Time and Resource constrain

Many time I hear that I don’t have time for doing things. In fact I also use this phrase many times. But over period of time I felt that it’s nothing but plain excuse for either our failure to perform a task or just we want to avoid the task. Irony is that this phrase is used more frequently against himself to give justification than to others.

Reason for such believe came from the following observations:

  • No one has more than 24 hr a day. But some of us are able to perform more task than us. May be they have found a better way of doing or prioritizing the tasks.
  • If something can't be done within certain period, our approach should be find a different way of doing that what is know till now. May be it has to be completely radical in its approach. This is very much evident from the history. If traveling 1000 miles used to takes months earlier but same things takes days. Key here is that some one has thought lets think of new ways to make it possible.
  • Things look impossible because we have not yet discovered and mastered right solution. Once things are discovered it becomes child play. I am sure when we were kid we must have been thinking that writing is impossible. But over period of time, we practiced so much that I don’t even think about it. Another example, we walk daily without thinking so much about it. But actually if you analyze the motions of each part of the body involved, you will find that it’s actually a very complex activity. But, after enough practice as a child it becomes so easy that you do it without giving any serious thought. Similarly, I guess, once upon a time (some millions of year back) creating fire must have been very complex and special task. But with human ingenuity and persistence it becomes now a child’s play.
  • In fact, after whatever I have understood from history or exceptional feat human has performed, I think with application of sufficient (sufficient is big word and subjective!) motivation and imagination any problem can be solved within given constrain of time and resources.

Essentially, it means that instead of wasting time on thinking about lack of resources and time we should start thinking how to overcome the current challenge. It might require some out of the box thinking because each challenge is unique (otherwise it’s not a challenge) and hence require unique solution. You can not have unique solution by following conventional approach.
