Exchanging executives

Many of my friends switch company because he feels that he is not learning any thing new in the current organization. Off course there are other plenty of reasons for leaving other than the above. But certainly this is one of them for many. This is specially relevant for product companies.

I think this one can be addressed by having exchange program between companies like universities. Once a person spent a certain period in a company, he should be offered opportunity to work in some other company without leaving the current company. This will help individual to get varied experience and perspective. Once he comes back, company can benefit from his newly gained experience. This deputation should not be one way, it should on both ways i.e. both company involved identify one person from other company to work on some project in his own company. While doing this it may be necessary to keep following point in mind:

  1. Person being deputed to some other organization must honor copyright
  2. Involved company must commit others that they will not hire the deputed person for next specified period without consultation of the current company.
  3. No special allowance should be provided for it. Person will continue to get his current salary and benefit. His appraisal other thing should also not be affected.
  4. Person should be of sufficient experience.
  5. Person should be trained first on the relevant technology by the current company before being deputed.
  6. This program should be kept just to provide different exposer and experience.
This can also help in learning and spreading the best practices of various organizations and hence increasing the overall productivities of the industry.
